Get started with ImageFly and Prototype Apps
Start with your analysis question. You can read the guides and manuals before requesting an account.
1. Choose a workflow before installing
Use the volume registration guide to align scans, the pore-to-surface guide to inspect enclosed cavities, or the DVC guide to plan displacement analysis. Read the linked app manual for the environment and input requirements.
2. Request website access
Submit your email, name, organization and intended use through Request Access Code. An administrator reviews the application and emails the result. Website approval provides an account and access code; it does not automatically grant a software license.
3. Download the online edition and request a license
After approval, sign in to the workspace with your email and access code. Use the Prototype Apps download and license sections. Complete the requested contact information and submit the challenge code from each computer to request its license. Follow the installer and activation instructions supplied with the software.
4. Check your Dragonfly environment
Prototype Apps plugins run in your local Dragonfly installation. Check the selected application's manual and the release instructions for supported versions and any separate Python or WSL setup. If your version is not listed, ask before installing; do not assume that all plugins support every version.
5. Validate on a small example
Confirm voxel spacing, units and segmentation on a small region first. Our synthetic teaching examples demonstrate two pore-analysis concepts using the actual plugin computation core. They are not customer scans or a test of the complete Dragonfly interface. Record your own settings and check the outputs before processing a full dataset.
What runs where?
Prototype Apps performs analysis in your Dragonfly environment. The invited web workspace also offers account and license services, downloads and workstation-backed AI features. Its current hosted image-analysis trial is limited to a single-image Sobel workflow; the desktop guides do not imply hosted 3D analysis. Standalone Apps such as OM3D have their own installation and license flow.

Same pore size, different distance to the surface
A reproducible synthetic example using the Pores to Surface Analysis computation core: two 27-voxel pores with 2 µm and 7 µm surface distances.
A scan boundary is not always the part surface
A synthetic pore example shows why including a field-of-view cut gives 2 µm while measuring only real part surfaces gives 8 µm.
